Grumpy Old Man

A warm day by the sea

A glorious day today - hot sunshine, a cloudless sky. My friend Tim and I spent the morning cutting back the laurel hedge at the exposed end of the garden. Because it was formerly under trees it had grown tall and spindly, but now that my neighbour's trees have gone I wanted to reduce the height and get it to thicken up.

After lunch we drove down to Ellenabeich on the Isle of Seil and called in at the garden of An Cala, in the hope of seeing my old friend Sheila Downie. She invited us in for a chat and a cold drink, then we went for a wander round the garden before driving down to the harbour where my Blip was taken. I was talking to some cruise boat people who were excited about having seen a thresher shark. Then home for dinner!
