Perfect summer lunch
Had friends, N&G over. I suggested to Mr. B that we have a cold, light summer lunch.
Remembered when we woke up - we had no white wine. So decided we'd go early to Lidl before the crowds arrive. We were there at 9:15 am, stupid me I forgot it was Sunday. Everything was closed. On the way back drove past a Co-op which was open, and bought some reasonably priced Casillero Del Diablo.Sauvignon - was better than expected.
To start the lovage soup I made the other day (from the freezer). Added some coconut cream, then re-blended it with ice. Served cold absolutely fabulous.
Mr. B did his usual magic with the main: cold salmon, Alexandra new potatoes, salad - and the beetroot salad I made on Friday.
Had a Piel de Sapo melon which luckily was ripe. Served it segmented, left on the skin - and drizzled with a pretty red salsa I made with red currants, white currants and a little maple syrup.
A lovely afternoon and we all had a walk round the garden before they left. Now watching Paolini in the Cincinnati semi-final, playing Kudermetova. Serving for the set - but not over yet. (Updated - the fight goes on. Could go either way now). Futher update: she won in the 3rd set. Now for the finals against Sviatek
