Rogart Train Station
A fine calm day, cloudy over the east, beautiful sunshine further inland, 25⁰c highs. Cloudy, but calm evening.
A good night's sleep, up early today. A walk around the village (Embo) after breakfast. Planned a trip for the day. First stop was at Skelbo Castle, then on to Golspie, a walk around the village. Headed to Dunrobin Castle, watched the falconry show, with a tour around the castle. Lunch back in Golspie. Headed inland to Rogart, then onto Lairg, finishing up at Tain for grocery shopping. A quiet evening at the house.
This afternoon we were busy doing some old holiday research, where peerie Brian used to come almost 50 years ago. He's not been back to the area since then, a lot has changed. We stumbled on the local postie, who pointed us in the right direction of one house, Reidchalmai, and gave us so much info about the Sutherland family he stayed with when visiting. The other house is a hike of over a big hill, that one will be an early start. One thing that hasn't changed much for Brian, the old train station. Coming from Shetland, trains are still a novelty for us, more so when you're a bairn, so the station stuck out in his mind. A lovely day at Rogart Train Station, Sutherland.
