Seed Time
Quite a few things have gone to seed now so I thought I’d cut some back and collect the seeds. The Mallow has gone wild and I collected a lot of seed heads from the stalks but I stopped after a while as there were so many bugs in there which I did not want to disturb. I wish I knew what they all are but my phone camera doesn’t pick up tiny things with much detail.
There groups of flies with bright red bits on their bodies, various types of spiders, ladybirds, and many other creepy crawlies. It was like being on safari!
Anyway I got lots of mallow seeds, antirrhinum seeds, calendula seeds and then took photos of some I will get tomorrow, carrot, parsley and some other veg.
There are so many mallow seeds that I am going to scatter them in a bit of garden by the railway underpass. A lady in the village used to tend to the plants there but she had to give it up. It is now overgrown with lots of weeds. Mallow seems very prolific so I think it would do well there and hopefully smother the weeds.
When we walked round the village this morning I admired a front garden, well a yard really. The elderly man was there tidying it all and weeding so I asked if I could take a photo. He was proud of his lovely flowers and said
they don’t have a back garden so the front yard had to do. He lives on the busy main road but I think all his flowers make up for the heavy traffic.
Goodnight Blippers ;-) X
