Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

Wha daur meddle wi' me?...

Apparently the Scots translation of "Nemo me impune lacessit" In case you wondered!
We had a lovely service this morning, our former curate who hasn't ever celebrated the Eucharist in our church before -as women were not ordained priest at that time in the early'90s. I was serving and all went very smoothly. We had a very happy upbeat service with our last but one Rector, with whom she served as curate, in the congregation.
Lots of catching up was done over coffee time. We had a good sized congregation again, lovely to see new people coming.
A and two other friends came back to us for bacon rolls - our traditional Sunday lunch - before she headed back down the road to Durham. Hopefully it won't be another 30 years before she comes back again.
A quiet afternoon except when I went to pick up some table cloths for church from the family of Ian, who died recently. They had some beautiful white linens which they thought we might be able to use in some way.
I popped into the Rectory at the same time to collect the mail. I spotted these lovely globe thistles in the garden, complete with bees and hover flies if you look carefully.
The thistle are about three inches in diameter.
They were practically glowing in the sunlight.
