Looks Good

This whole Alaska thing; we are being played, aren't we. An inept former entertainer meets a ruthless dictator who has clawed his way to dominance with blood-soaked hands, supposedly to negotiate about a war. Who knows what was said in the truncated meeting. Neither of them will be bound by it. Everyone - politicians and journalists - will make up their stories to suit their purposes. No honest dealing is happening; no honest reporting is happening. It's a masque, while the killing goes on

What a pretty, colourful picture of autumn bounty, sitting on our worktop. The apples - Baker's Delicious - were picked a while ago and have lost their acidity, now bland and dull. The hazels are early 'discards' by the tree; I picked them up to confirm they are all hollow, with no edible nut, which they are. The damsons were also a sample, a week or so ago, to check they were not quite ripe; off the tree they have become soft and wizened, rather than ripened. It's made them an intense, dark colour, but we will be better to get fresh ones from the tree than use them

Things are not what they appear
