Our pal from Shetland is staying with us this weekend and we were out and about with her for a decent chunk of the day.

First up (and most definitely at 'em) was Daniel Kitson - we're big fans, his ramshackle and loose work-not-in-progress show at The Stand necessitated the bus into town at 9am but he was more than worth the early start. Great stuff.

Our pal then treated us to some very nice indeed lunch at Wahaca before we headed up to Assembly Roxy for Ohio - a terrific autobiographical theatre show with songs that was funny, charming and genuinely quite moving.

When our pal went to met up with other friends we went our own way and headed to Monkey Barrel for some comedy to fill the gap we had before our evening event. And we caught Stuart McPherson - a young Scottish comedian who we'd never heard of but who we both really enjoyed down in the bowels of Cabaret Voltaire.

And then our evening event that proved really quite, well, very heavy-handed and lecturing, neither of us liked it. Cutting The Tightrope at Church Hill Theatre, part of the International Festival. We discussed it all on the way home with our chips, be keen to read some of the reviews or opinion pieces.
