Combined show today with Jack- dressage and SJ. Up at 5.30am :0( 

He was all plaited up and we were on the road by 9.15. Their dressage test was ok but Eva cut a few corners and made her circles too small, then he broke his canter on one corner and she forgot her gloves so lost two marks for that as well. Her SJ round was going well but it was a tricky course with a very awkward angle to the last fence and he had that down and one other when he just chipped in an extra stride and got too close. Not their day today but she had fun anyway. The going was ok today as plenty of cover but the horses are struggling with the hard ground in general and he did look a bit stiff today. The show wasn't very well attended and lots going on elsewhere which is sad for the organisers as there's so much involved setting up the field. 

We had time for a few jobs at the yard before Ruth came for lessons. She only comes once a month so we just have to slot in when we can but we were both a bit tired after the show. Eva had one on Buddy - working on energising his trot and getting better canter transitions. I had one on Indy (only two attempts to line him up with the mounting block today!) We didn't get out of walk - but just trying to slow him down and balance him and focus on my position as he's been training me to keep my leg off then when it does go on it's a massive shock and he shoots forward. Lots and lots to work on but it's so important to get these early stages right so we have a well rounded horse in the future. 

Mike had done a fab BBQ and made bread etc when we got home which was very welcome indeed. It's been such a busy weekend!
