God's Miracles Always Have An Eternal Purpose!

So, if you are looking for God to do miracles to make you famous or popular or rich or successful or happy, you are looking to God for the wrong things.  More about that later.  We came together at FBC, grateful to God for all He has blessed us with which includes the buildings we can gather in, to escape the heat and the freedom to worship openly and learn more about the lives He has called us to live.  We began our service with a congregational hymn which was followed by the welcome from Pastor Wes.  After the welcome, we were blessed to witness two baptisms.  The choir, orchestra and all our talented accompanists followed those joyful moments with a worshipful presentation of "Thank You Jesus For The Blood Applied".  The congregation joined in a few more songs, before Pastor Wes directed our attention to Acts 3:1-16, which tells us of a man who had been lame all his life who was healed instantly during an encounter with Peter and John, and realized immediately that his healing did not come from the two disciples, but came from God and so he began walking and leaping and praising God for his healing.  Peter and John weren't doing anything special, but they were available to do their part in God's plan to change this man's life.  The same is true for us today.  Jesus is still in the business of using ordinary people through our daily lives empowered by the Holy Spirit to reach people to draw them to Him.  You never know who you might touch with a smile or a hug, that might get them started on the road to a new life with Jesus.  I'm looking forward to next week's sermon as I try to put this week's message into my days this week! At the end of the service we had the privilege of honoring Matt for 15 years of service at FBC and we had a chance to express our love and gratitude to his family, too.......
