NothingGetsLost

A tiny dip into something that looked like a sport competition. I've stayed hard away from any of that for a looong time having had my fill of it in a former version of life!

Triathlon weekend is big here. Mostly as it's a local company's hime event so lots and lots of us are pulled into helping out. And cos it's usually a Scottish championship event.

Two friends fancied it but not all of it. A relay team was born. Just for fun. To have a try. It'll be nice to do instead of work it. Went the chat.

Swim leg for me. Excellent. Only plan being to get out with a bit of a buffer for the bike, run guys to not get destroyed by the "serious triathletes" of which there were many. And we were not.

4am wake up/breakfast for a 6:45am start was like the old days. Funny that the old routine clicked in!

Relaxed time getting Ps bike racked, finding transition zone, little splash on the way to the start, chatting with friends in the holding pen. All very lovely. All very just for fun.

Go!

Just for fun lasted about 2 steps over the start line!
A hard effort and I ended up with a PB, out almost before P was ready, a decent bruise (it's a contact sport apparently!), in the top 20 across all catagories for swim leg.
Race brain doesn't dissappear it seems!

Hilariously my reward was to marshal 10:30am - 3pm , managing runners and traffic on the run course. Looong fun day.
