Poppy Crossing
Today Chris had booked us a visit to the Poppy Factory in Richmond, where all the poppy wreaths are made for Remembrance Services, including those of The Royal Family. The individual poppies for Remembrance Day used to be made there as well but are now mass produced in a factory elsewhere.
The factory was founded in the 1920s with the aim of providing employment and housing for disabled ex-servicemen and their families and is still staffed by ex-Service personnel with disabilities or mental health issues.
It made for a fascinating and moving tour. This pedestrian crossing in the blip is just outside the factory entrance.
Afterwards we did a bit of shopping and had a picnic, just getting back to the car as a brief storm set in.
