Garlic

It was one of my favorite days of summer, garlic cleaning day. This was one of our best harvests in a while. Big, solid bulbs. The varieties and their harvest: Duganski (30 bulbs); Nootka Rose (24 bulbs); Deerfield (15 bulbs). Some massive bulbs. Duganski and Deerfield are new to us, but Nootka Rose has been a favorite for a while. We’re kind of garlic snobs here, and coincidentally, we have no vampires hanging around. We will keep some out to use, freeze some, and dry some to grind into garlic powder. So good.

I like these days as we reflect on whatever our harvest is as we sit in the shade of maple or fir, and watch the farm equipment and traffic pass on our country road.

Update on the guitars: I succeeded in restringing my Gretsch acoustic after learning a couple of tricks in the process. The guitar sounds great, my playing, not so much. I will string my Ibanez soon. Heading out to practice now sitting on Peanut’s bench.
