Wasp spider
I saw this spider on Sunday when l was at the Nature Reserve. These spiders have recently arrived in this country and have been found in the southeast but are slowly moving northwards. They belong to the orb-weaver group and other than the fact that their camaflouge as a wasp which protects them from some predators their claim to fame is their web.
The web has a ladder like structure running through the middle which you can see in the photo. Apparently they eat the web at the end of each day - and watch out men! If the tiny insignificant male makes himself too obvious he gets eaten too.
Sorry its a rather messy photo but the best of a bad bunch,
