Paraty to Rio

Back blip

Our last lovely breakfast of this stay. Packed up, left our back packs in the pousada and did our now-familiar walk along the river and into the old town - a pleasant 12 min stroll. We sat on the Pontal beach at a table for a wee while, enjoying the atmosphere and people watching.

Decided on lunch at Chavariz again, and another fish moqueqa. We’re lucky to have stumbled upon this family-run, just-off-the-main-tourist-track restaurant on our last visit here.

Got a taxi on the square back to the pousada to pick up our bags and then to the train station. It’s only a 15 min walk, but our bag packs are quite heavy (laptops) and then there were the little things we bought - the canvas art, little bits and bobs in another shop, and 3 prints of Brazilian plants.

Pleasant bus journey to Rio, leaving at 16.10. This departure time gave us the morning in Paraty but did mean most of the journey was in the dark.

Back in our wee studio, always feels like coming home. Both unpacked in 10 mins and then walked out for some Yahtzee in Tipicamente. Worse places to come back to than Rio de Janeiro!

Extra added of orchids in the pousada. When we lived in Budapest, we had lots of orchids in our flat and they thrived very well. We’ve never had any luck in Barcelona with orchids, but I might give it another go when we return. The pic of me in the main blip is to show the cobbled streets.
