The Geology "Path"

Another lovely day with the sun shining, a stiff breeze, and a reasonable temperature. "Where shall we walk today?" was the question as we drank our morning tea and coffee. In the end we decided on the Geology Path, starting from Smitingen beach (extra). It's a short path but it starts at sea level and zooms up through some very rocky countryside to the top of the nearby hill. Then it comes down the other side through thick forest, and back to the beach.
As the name suggests it passes through some interesting landforms, results of the time when the land was deep under an ice cap. If I'm being picky it should be the Geomorphology Path, but I'm not a picky person, so I can live with "Geology Path".
The term "path" is a little questionable too. In my picture Jan and Rose are looking up at the next bit which basically follows that tree root in front of them. However, although the path involves scrambling at times it is very well marked with blue dots.
The path has some lovely views out over the sea and sitting on the sun-warmed rocks, looking at the light gleaming on the sea, is so pleasant that the walk took quite a while to complete.
Towards the end Jan spotted some chanterelle mushrooms just off the path and we collected enough to have them as a very tasty part of our dinner!
