At last
This first daffodil is blooming 10 days later than last year, and 12 days later than 2023. I am so happy to see it.
It has been an unusually sociable day. I worked in K's garden this morning and had a long-overdue catch up with R. He is expecting hoping that the house sale to FFL will be completed next week. He has found a new house, in North Canterbury, within coo-ee of a place I lived for four years.
And the really big news is that there is a new woman in his life. I am delighted for him: living alone was simply dreadful for him. He is so much steadier and more content. We chatted at length before I got on with the weeding.
I seem to have chatted to all my neighbours this afternoon. The dog walk took three hours instead of the usual one.
People were out enjoying the sunshine and relative balmy conditions (14C). All of them were keen to natter. Even the reticent folk over the road, with whom I am working hard to develop a reasonable neighbourly relationship.
As a result I have a sore throat ... and most of my day's plans have been put off until tomorrow.
I need some silence now. For several days.
