Verona Day 1
Up at 3am, taxi at 4am. So far, so good.
When we were in the taxi, JR just mentioned, half in jest, ‘Have you got your passport?’
A moment’s silence, then GAWD! STOP!! WAIT!!!
No, I did NOT have my passport!
Sometimes, I don’t even believe myself!
However, a disaster was averted, and a lesson learned (and what age am I, to be just learning this lesson??)
However, after that the day went smoothly. We were VERY impressed with Jet2 check-in. Masses of staff to help with online check-ins - it was great. Through security in record time.
We took the airport bus into Verona, then, as it was ‘an easy 20 minute walk on the flat’ we walked into the centre from the train station - fortunately, much of it in the shade of trees.
But we were VERY glad to reach the arena area, with its array of cafes. The first one we came to was chosen, and it proved to be a good choice. We shared a very tasty pizza.
After checking in to our hotel (we’ve been there before) we popped in to the lounge for a ‘welcome drink’, which is offered every afternoon, where I fiddled with my selfie stick new toy.
Then we went out for a wander. Fabulous city. Lots of dogs, surprisingly, in the heat. An ice cream in the cafe next to the hotel to finish when we suddenly realised we were VERY tired. (10,574 steps!)
