Len House

This was the Rootes building in the centre of Maidstone. It was built between 1938 - 39 by Howard & Souster. It is listed grade II and the listing gives a lovely description of the building, inside and out, including the materials used in its construction. It takes its name from the river Len which forms the mill pond before flowing out under the bridge that I'm standing on and joining the Medway near the Archbishop's Palace. The building is looking cared for because it is being converted into retail space and apartments.
