King of all birds...

I went in search of damsels and all I got was a king...

The weather at Trentham was a little too cool for damselflies this morning, so I headed into the bird hide to see what was around. After a few minutes look who turned up!

This is only the second time I've ever photographed a kingfisher. They fly up and down the River Trent which runs beside Trentham Gardens but you don't always get the chance to photograph them. A couple of perches have been strategically placed so you can hope they stop for a moment or two. But photographers have waited in the bird hide for hours and never seen them. We just got lucky today.
