Echinacea "Sunseekers Red"
Its Wednesday so it must be coffee and cake at a garden centre with Kanyl. Today it was Houghton Hall. Not as floriferous as some recent visits and a lot of empty display space, presumably they are preparing for another seasonal intake of plants.
Another day when I tried to change my style of photography. Instead I tried some "shoot through" shots and chose this one. Echinacea (Cone flowers) are native to the American prairies. The name is from the Greek for Hedgehog (which is why I always refer to scientific names not Latin names) because of the spiny centre of the flower. As they are drought tolerant I suspect we may see more and more cone flowers as time goes by.
