Owen and Walter

Tim sent this photo of our youngest grandchild, Owen, who is 16, with the following message: Owen just walked into school after 7 years away. First class starts in 3 minutes. Owen has battled extreme anxiety for many years and this is a huge accomplishment. My reply was: He should be really proud of himself. Two major accomplishments this month [he got his driving license] and lots more to come.

I'm really proud of him.

Thank you for all your comments on the stones. I thought it was interesting that freespiral mentioned another use of pebbles in the video, called 'Echoes of Faith' in her entry today. Because people should make 15 rounds, and unusually high number, of one of the featured wells they will start with a handful of 15 pebbles and drop one as each round is completed. Stones and pebbles have a lot of different meanings/uses for a lot of different people.

John saw the doctor this morning about his shoulder. She is impossibly young, but we both liked her. She was very thorough and referred him to the sports medicine clinic for an injection (cortisone, I assume, but I forget to ask.) We're waiting to hear from them soon, I hope, since she marked it urgent because he's in pain. He had an x-ray. and picked up a stronger pain med from the pharmacy. It's a good conservative approach which we both appreciate.

We seem to be having an epidemic of shoulder injuries in the family. Dana said said she had hurt her shoulder rock climbing with Peter, but insisted that it would get better on its own. Until this morning when she said her shoulder was 'terrible' and she might have to call the doctor.

It's no wonder people of our generation always wind up talking about our ailments...they seem to take up all of our time!
