Three
Three things welcomed me home - Maggie and my two new library on-hold books!
Maggie of course was whiny; she had obviously been lonely, and obviously the cat sitters had stuck to her recommended diet portions (!!) as she kept hounding me for food! More food and even more food. The whining never stopped! Poor starving Maggie.
Both new books are teasing me to get reading..I chose "The Last Life Boat" to read first ....And believe it or not, another email notice from the library appeared but the time I got back from the library! - I have yet another book to pick up! Welcome back!
My travel days to and from the cottage are quite tiring; they didn't used to be, but getting old changed that! There is always a lot of lugging of suitcases, coolers, tote bags full of groceries and of course all the techy stuff...binoculars, camera, iPad and laptop...By the time I get into the car for the almost 3 hours drive, I am pooped! And then all the lugging has to be repeated when I arrive at the marina...out of the car, into the boat, and then out of the boat and up to the cottage. For the return trip home, everything is repeated in reverse!
But today at the cottage, I had the extra complication of the water pump not working - so no water. We still had power so an outage was not to blame. The obvious next step is always to check the fuses and sure enough that was the problem. I have no idea why it would blow a fuse, but at least it was a solvable problem ...and yes, there were some replacement fuses available, but it took a while to find out where! So a bit of a rocky start. Showers could now be had and the ritual laundry of bed linens at least started for the incoming folks who would be arriving soon. Whew!
And when I got home? Another surprise. On my landline, there were phone messages - important ones. I had a BP issue while at the cottage and emailed my doctor with readings and permission to up my meds. His office had confirmed that they got the email and would give it to my doctor. I expected him to call as he always does, but he didn't. The cardiologist had already said that upping my meds by another half dose would be OK if needed...so I felt comfortable doing that when I didn't hear back from the doctor. Also the cardiologist had referred me to the hospital for a heart test and said they would call me that week. I made sure that her receptionist had my cell number to include in the referral as I would be at the cottage. Well, that didn't work well as the hospital called my landline and left a message ! Geez....
My family doctor's message gave very specific instructions including permission to up the meds...whew!... and to send BP readings into him in another email! Tomorrow I will go about correcting all this lack of communication... and perhaps cancel my landline? It is more trouble than it is worth!
Otherwise, it is good to be home and catering to my cat.
