On This Day

Messages of hope

My last Book Festival event for 2025 and it was excellent. I must admit I'd forgotten what it was about till I arrived at the venue. Shockingly unprepared I know.

However it was so good. Two interesting speakers with a lot to say about humanity's skewed relationship with nature. Particularly western cultures' flawed, capitalist approaches to extracting what we can from the natural world without a thought for our interdependence. This much we know of course but for counterbalance some messages of hope about survival and, to conclude, what individuals can do right now. I thought of several blippers who would have listened as enthusiastically as me. Reader, I bought the books.

Prior to the event I'd had a couple of hours of nonstop chat with a former colleague. Edinburgh seems more than usually busy today so I'm on an afternoon train home. Yoga tonight will be a relaxing end to the day.
