Grumpy Old Man

Up, up and away

A dry, sunny day today. Did some repairs on the timber deck this morning as one of the fencing guys had put his foot through it! I've done the same in the past, so I replaced the dodgy bits with some of the better timber I saved when I had another part of the deck replaced last year. One day I suppose it will all have to be replaced.

After lunch I chopped up a bulk bag of prunings and took them along to the dump. The skip was piled high, so I'll give them a day or two to have it emptied and then continue with the job.

Popped into the nearby Country Store in my continuing hunt for Coolglass, the greenhouse shading paint. I've used it on work greenhouses for years, but nowhere locally stocks it. Garden centres, paint shops, DIY - anywhere I could think of, but always no. I could buy it online, but the postage is ridiculous. So when I came home I mixed up some flour and water and tried that! Not sure if it will survive the next rain shower!

While I was parked outside Screwfix - yes, I tried them too! - I heard a buzzing over head and saw a hang glider passing over. Must be fun! So this is my Blip today!

(I looked up the registration number and found this - "The owner learned to fly in 2012 and bought his Quantum 912 flexwing G-BZIM later that year. In 2018 he shipped G-BZIM to Florida and spent more than a month touring the States at a leisurely 60mph, flying from Miami to the West Coast, before returning East to complete his remarkable journey in New York. During this incredible adventure, he landed at 59 airfields, logging 124 hours, and rounded off his trip with a flight down the Hudson River complete with a few orbits of the Statue of Liberty." )
