What’s the core problem here?

In contrast to yesterday, this is not a garden area showing great health. Two different apple trees, admittedly close to each other, but this is the worst looking of the scarred and infected fruit. Early research suggests brown rot but any informed Blippers with knowledge and/or prevention remedies to offer would be much appreciated!
