Beans

How many beans make five?

Two beans, a bean and a half, half a bean and a bean. It's Francis' favourite from his Grandpa.

A good day spent at the allotment. I had been having nightmares about what kind of a state it was in but everything has survived over the last month that I hadn't been there. Even the bean plants and especially the corn which is enormous.
And the weeds so I spent the day weeding, clearing, and watering. Inbetween I went to see Dad and G for lunch then drove us all back to the allotment so Gill could pick some raspberries and Dad could see how things were. We didn't stay too long, they can't manage much and after I dropped them home I went back and spent another couple of hours sorting and tidying.
It was good to have a day out from work which has been intense and slightly maddening since I got back. And a bit consuming. I need to remember there is life out side of work and all that brings.
Not to say that other things haven't happened.....a few good swims with Fiona, a trip to the Barbican with Francis, a walk with Sophie, an after work chips and beer with Lotte on the hill and an evening of Scrabble with Daniela. Lots of baking and book reading and an afternoon with Mum and Nick.
Today Sam left for Reading and we've got a weekend of gardening planned. And a swim with Chris and Fiona on Sunday morning.
Looking forward to the long weekend.
