Breakthrough

This morning when I walked Django I came upon the "fallen" tree in Lowries Den that, previously, I'd seen and thought that it would be good to climb. It's not fallen flat, as it's supported by a couple of strong limbs, so its trunk is at an angle of about 30° - and still has enough roots to be in full leaf. It was fun to climb, balancing on the trunk, and I found a good point to sit, chill, write an email and engage Django. There was one sketchy move on the way down that made me question the wisdom of climbing up, but it was fun! On my way home I called in on Hodge and finally collected my 5th place prize from Turf Bonanza in June! We also had a good chat.

I worked from home, but didn't do a lot, other than continue my exchange with the SAP guy and respond to a user whose problem with HiGHS was the bad scaling of his model. I was tired, and wanted to be fresh for the meeting at 18:00 with a major sponsor, Breakthrough Energy - one of Bill Gates' philanthropic companies. They've funded the "Tuesday evening" collaboration to the tune of $690k, so we were hoping that we could persuade them to give us some more. Hence, at 05:00 New Zealand time, our Kiwi led the presentation. It had a much more positive response than we'd been led to expect, and their boss wants to meet just me and the Kiwi again in September.

Afterwards I felt a bit wiped out, so was glad when И called for a chat about the meeting. She always says that I come across well, and it was good to hear! Then I went out with Django via Tesco for groceries and cooked.
