Valedictory
After various work emails to and fro with V, the day started with a cycle across the fields from the campsite to Norton and then I walked out across the marsh to the island (extra) for another turbulent windy Reggie Perrin dip. No one to be seen for miles in any direction (extra).
I made my way back gathering some samphire on my way and cycled into the village for a fish cake for supper.
Back to the campsite for a brew and read a little but soon felt chilly so cycled down to watch the start of the racing. Still windy so very exciting and Honey Bun had excellent start line strategy, which was to be expected.
I cycled back by the windmill and after supper squadrons of geese flew over. I’ve never seen so many at this time of year.
The main blip is of my much-loved old bike. One of the reasons I’ve come down is to find a home for it. M&R have kindly kept it in their garage after mum and dad died but now, with them moving, I need to let it go. It’s as knackered as i am but we go back a long way together.
I’ll take it to Norwich to a place that takes old bikes and does them up for refugees.
