On top of the world

Today we took the bus over to Buttermere. On the way up Winlatter I spotted a familiar Camel Trophy landrover in a layby beside a group of photographers with their lenses pointed towards Bassenthwaite. John Gravett was clearly identifiable among the group.

When we got to Buttermere, we headed up Robinson and along the ridge to Dale Head. Following this we descended to Rosthwaite and had tea at Yew Tree Farm. Then a long wait for a very delayed bus back to Keswick. It was a lovely walk with some steep climbing and a total distance of about 7 horizontal miles.

This picture was taken on the ridge just before the final ascent to Dale Head summit. Despite the sun it was very hazy today and the views from this normally amazing viewpoint were a little disappointing.

Slight disaster this evening as I have discovered that I have left my Canon battery charger behind at home. Not sure what I will do. Any Canon owners in the Keswick area who can help out? :-)
