Here’s Lookin’ At You, Kid!

The sidewalk is happy: the washing machine finally got fixed today!! The repairman was shocked to see that there were wet clothes in the machine when he opened it, even though that had been my complaint. “Machine must be empty,” he kept saying. “Are you telling me you aren’t authorized to remove the heavy wet clothes from the machine, because I can’t bend down there and lift that stuff…” “I can’t touch. Don’t know what is in there.”. “But you have gloves on!”. (silence).
Fine. I will find someone to take the clothes out. Don’t move!
There were two construction guys working across the street, one of whom accepted the chance to do five minutes of public service. I hope the repairman was embarrassed that a complete stranger had to come and risk life and limb to take out a load of dripping wet clothes and put them in a rubber bin.
The repair guy “ran a diagnostic”, pushed a bunch of buttons, and, a miracle, it started up. No hints as to how to prevent or fix it if it happens again. Beggars can’t be choosers. I am thrilled to be able to wash clothes again after two weeks.

My tooth cavity is healing, no pain or swelling. Still on soft diet. A little tired. But pretty much a success story. Tune in in a couple months to see if I opt for an implant.
