Choose Joy

Not as good a day

Long ago USAID had a proposal to assess an agency in Eastern Europe. They did not want anyone from the country to be part of it because they wouldn’t be able to be objective. No one in the country would be able to say something critical of the agency and ever expect to get work in the country again.

This morning I woke up to emails saying the same thing about the proposal we just submitted. Of course, one of the things we bragged about was having someone who was intimately familiar with the organization. The client apparently extended the deadline and asked another organization to please bid and they were inviting us to bid with them.

Well rats.

Speaking of rats.

I had a lunch meeting in DC and then a dinner date in DC and had thought I might go protest in between, Probably not a good thing to do w/o health insurance. I didn’t wind up doing it because I had work on the new proposal to do.

Bear in mind I’ve only lived in a city for one year of my life. Tonight I saw a gigantic rat. Then at dinner we saw so many gigantic rats that we could not keep count.

I blame West Virginia.

West Virginia giddily sent National Guardsmen to help occupy DC, followed by Ohio and now South Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Get out. Your troops weren’t welcome in DC during the Civil War and they aren’t welcome now and take your rats with you.

As someone who lives in a well run blue state I am tired of subsidizing red states and then getting mistreated for it.
