St Laurence…
…Church in Ludlow.
We visited this beautiful church and chatted with a couple of lovely volunteers there.
I love visiting churches and it so happened that on our last holiday we had (coincidentally) visited a different St Laurence church. This meant that I had looked up St Laurence previously (I probably blipped it) so I was pretty up to speed with his life story, martyrdom and his symbol of the grid iron.
I think this might have given the impression that I was more knowledgable than I actually am! But, it did mean we learned more from the volunteers who felt they had found a kindred spirit. Anyway, the East window here, shows the life story of Saint Laurence.
Apparently it is the only stained glass window in the country that shows the entire life of a Saint.
It’s magnificent.
But they really should supply binoculars and a seat, in order to appreciate it properly.
