Blue on blue
An engineer was booked tomorrow to come and sort out my washing machine, but we had a text this morning asking if he could come this afternoon instead. That suited me just fine. However, when he arrived it was apparent that, although he was competent to deal with our make and model of washing machine, he’d never seen a separate auto dosing unit like ours, despite me making it abundantly clear to the repair company that it was necessary to send an engineer who was familiar with them. (That particular model wasn’t sold for long, they were discontinued fairly quickly, leading me to assume that they weren’t proving reliable, as I can attest.)
To give the chap his due, he did manage to disassemble the auto dosing unit from the machine and remove it from the cupboard under the sink, but the re-programming of the washing machine to take off the auto dosing feature was not so simple. It required a phone call back to base and he was talked through the procedure by another technician. By the time he left I had a working washing machine which will now take manual dosing in the usual way, which is a huge relief. It takes away the constant worry about water leaks, and I also have a lot more storage space in the cupboard under the sink.
Once he’d gone Smithers suggested a short walk in the sunshine up to the Green, which delighted me because he’s not felt up to walking for some time. He managed our hill in one go without stopping for a rest, which was great. Unfortunately there were no photo opportunities on the Green; everything looks parched and ragged and unphotogenic. So I went out into the garden after supper and was pleased to see this Holly Blue on a Michaelmas daisy.
