Enjoying the view

First job this morning was to try and sort M and J’s problem with their car — most of their luggage was in the boot, and the lock had jammed so they couldn’t open it. We went to our local garage in two cars, and S proceeded to explain the problem to Michel. When Michel heard us translating what he said to Spanish, he instantly switched to completely fluent Spanish, better than ours. Thus all communication problems were eliminated and with arrangements made we set off for our annual jaunt to Bordes de Graus immediately.

A six-hour trip with the usual two obligatory stops. We landed at Urtau, the tapas bar in Bossost, on the dot of 2 pm. The French mob had cleared out most of the counter-top tapas earlier, but they were enough for our light lunch, topped off with cheesecake, crema Catalana, and coffee.

We always stop at the top of the pass, the splendid Port de Bonaigua, so here’s the obligatory blip of that with added horses. We got to Bordes to Graus just before six, to be greeted by G and A. Cup of tea, unpacking, G&T (it’s the traditional start of the holiday!), dinner provided by us (incorporating some leftovers from our party), nightcap in the bar. We need to be up at seven tomorrow, oops!
