Van

Yes, it's a shit photo but then it's been that kind of day so it's entirely appropriate. How can it be otherwise when it's 10am, you're heading home from Aviemore and about a mile out of town a big red light comes on, you lose power from the steering, the engine's overheating and you can hardly brake as you limp into a lay-by.

It's the crankshaft pulley, which delivers power to all those things and runs the alternator. So we're going nowhere and 8 hours later we've still gone nowhere. Well, Chris and I have been in a taxi to Inverness to pick up another van, paid for by the breakdown company and gone back to the van to wait for the recovery truck that's coming from Alloa. The recovery truck guy phoned. He's still 70 miles away (just left the house?) so we locked up, left the key and headed home. He'll take the van to our usual garage and leave it there. We'll laugh about it later, I'm sure.
