Dawn's Journal

Reflection

It's been a while since I last visited Syon Park, so today was the day to rectify this.  The house was closed (I really should checks times before leaving!), but it was a nice day and the gardens were quiet so no matter.

The main feature of the gardens is the Great Conservatory (extra) built in the 1820s by the third Duke of Northumberland. Its designer, Charles Fowler, was also responsible for the original Covent Garden market. The design also influence Joseph Paxton in his design of Crystal Palace.

The left wing of the conservatory houses a lily pond with a gorgeous selection of lilies in bloom, one of which gives me my image for today's Flower Friday challenge. Thanks as always to our host, BikerBear.
