Red Squirrel
Today's the day ........................ for peanut pinching
Dominic and I went for a lovely walk this morning to the woods at Barrhill, on the north side of Kirkcudbright.
There are always lots of birds to see, as they come to the feeders at the Red Squirrel Hide. The Merlin App gave us an impressive list of the ones it could identify including Great Spotted Woodpecker, Tree Creeper, Nuthatch, Chaffinch, Wren, Goldcrest and Goldfinch. I'm not saying we actually saw all these! - but they were obviously in the trees around us.
The main creature we wanted to see though, was a Red Squirrel - and we most certainly did. The one above didn't seem at all bothered to find us there. It carried on pinching peanuts out of the feeder and then scampered off into the depths of the wood.
So cute to see ............................!
