Our Journey is a process

Dad's Rose

We finally made it! Whew! What a trip! We make this trip several times a year, but this time it seemed much longer. It might have been the fact that we were each driving a car, rather than both of us driving one car. Or it might have been the fact that there was so much road construction, etc. etc.

We made it. As we drove up to the house, the first thing that struck us was the white rose near the front entrance. This rose was not especially remarkable. Yet it stood out as though a guardian.

But this rose bush has significance. It was planted in early summer 2007 by loving, but old hands. My father-in-law planted it for my mother-in-law. Just a few short months later, he was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer, and he passed on three months later.

So, Dad, your rose is still here and blooming as you would have liked it.
