St Buryan church sundial

I wanted to photograph something in the village this afternoon, so this is the sundial on St Buryan church. The Latin motto "Pereunt et imputantur" is from the poet Martial and is commonly found on clocks and sundials. It can be translated "They (i.e. the hours or minutes) pass away and are reckoned to our account". This sundial is special because it has a calendar and a solar azimuth (but please don't ask me how these work!). More information can be found here .
