Above And Beyond...

Raise The Colours!

Our long standing friends arrived mid morning and we sat in the rear garden enjoying the sunshine as we chatted over coffee.

About 1pm, with the weather being so nice we cycled into Ross on Wye (Herefordshire, UK) passing the roundabout (see extra) which has had the St George Flag painted on it.  In Ross town, the main photo' shows a zebra crossing painted with the St George Flag.

The flag hanging and painting has spread in the UK: Known as Operation Raise The Colours it started in response to Birmingham council removing Union Jack Flags and a schoolgirl not being allowed to say to her class why she was proud to be British. It's caused a lot of contoversy and views depend on whether you're Left Leaning or Right Leaning politically!

It's also spreading around Wales with the third Extra being a pub in Monmouth (South Wales) flying the Union Jack.

We enjoyed a coffee in the newly refurbished Riverside Inn, on the riverbank in Ross on Wye, before cycling home.
