Apples and pears

Bumped into a fellow walker who'd recently also moved to Sheringham from Wells, Norfolk.  She said she was afraid of dogs but Kyro didn't frighten her.  Another beautiful morning of waves rolling and spraying.

We've our first visitors tomorrow afternoon.  I needed my special recipe book and was getting frustrated but thankfully Mr located it.  I believe I bought it from one of those shops with remaindered books.  It's become my cake bible as it has my now staple cake recipes.

Busy kitchen morning.  Made food for the hound and pureed apples from our tree for apple puree cake.  It seemed a shame to make anything other than using the apples which are delicious.  I will stew and freeze them for future cakes and crumbles.  My mother used to make the best apple pie.  I think it's time to attempt my own.

In the afternoon we drove to Bodham village hall to look at the work of local artists.  There was some good work on display.  I bought a small fabric collage of leaves.  It now graces a narrow wall in the hallway.  Much of the work was priced low.  

We thought if displayed in Cambridge prices would have been higher.  I was talking to one artist, Carol when a customer for one of her paintings asked for a reduction.  I noticed the other artist we were talking to, Sue did purse her lips at hearing that.  It seems mean to try to beat down the given price.  Works of art take a lot of time.  When we left I noticed that particular customer driving away in a large BMW.  

The afternoon has warmed up considerably.  We sat in the garden to drink our afternoon coffee.  I then made the apple puree cake for tomorrow afternoon.  The house smells pleasantly of baking.

Mr has a pair of axle stands which he should have passed on before moving.  I have placed a post on Nextdoor and someone may take them off our hands and free space in the shed.  Fingers crossed.

We have a lot of apples to consume.  Bramley and an dessert variety by its appearance.
