Kirkleatham Hall Stables

What a different day photography-wise to yesterday!

Honey and I had a lovely walk this morning along the top prom and surrounding streets, it was getting busy on the beach (see extra).

I thought that was going to be my blip for today, but late this afternoon we took the dogs in the car to Kirkleatham Walled Garden car park, so Callum could have a change of scene and a walk in a quiet, flat environment.

We knew that the gardens would be closed, but they have quiet walks round the area for me to take the dogs. Well it was packed when we got there at just after 5pm. Seemingly the tail end of the "Between the Tides" free festival for families - street theatre, circus, dance, story telling, music, workshops and all the associated activities that go alongside these sort of events.

It did mean that I had access into the grounds of Kirkleatham Hall School which from what I can gather is in the general area of where Kirkleatham Hall itself once stood. Demolished in 1955.

The Stable Block remains but after a period of dereliction and several arson attacks, it is undergoing restoration, although difficult to see any progress. Early 18th century it’s claim to fame is that it even housed the famous 19th century racehorse ’Flying Dutchman’.

The local council website is quite vague about the project, which is probably an indication that nothing much is being done at the moment.

BUT - it did give me a good blip :-)
