Straw Dry

It’s been another warm and sunny day. I forwent the morning dog walk to make more plum chutney and some plum jam. Both turned out well. Altogether I estimate I’ve had around 12 kilograms of plums from my one plum tree this year. Indeed, I feel I’m reaching my capacity for the making of preserves this summer -although there is a pear tree at the allotment sagging under the weight of its fruit and I’ve not done much with the apples there either. Perhaps we’ll have to eat lots of pear and apple tarts!

This afternoon I spent a couple of hours at the allotment weeding. The thistles and bindweed are thriving in the dryness and heat. I’ve much more to do to clear the beds but that will need to wait for another day.

These straw flowers are growing on my plot amongst the French beans and courgettes. Many of the flower heads have already gone to seed.

It’s due to be another warm day tomorrow then it looks as if we may get some rain later in the week.

Thanks for passing by my journal.
