Sophie in her Element

I've been back in the Drying Ground today.  Sophie has had a busy week up there  and she has prepared more ground for seedbeds when planting time comes around again.

We worked together for a few hours and caught up on plans for the ground.  At one point I was digging bent over when I felt Sophie tapping on my shoulder.  Unfortunately, I looked up too late to see the deer she had spotted leaping over the compost heap by the wall.  Apparently, it had just wandered across the top of where we were working.  I'm hoping I caught it on the wildlife camera as, when I walked around the ground this morning I spotted a path which had been created through the briars and gorse.  Sophie confirmed it wasn't of her making so it can only be a deer route.

Whilst we were pulling up more brambles, we discussed the next community work day and the craft activities we will provide for the children whilst their parents are doing the hard graft.

Here is Sophie collecting up the various bits of broken crockery we have dug up.  She has some ideas about how to preserve them in an item for the DG.  It was time to pack up to prepare dinner.
