Apples

This is the first year (since we got here)  that the apple tree in our garden has given us apples. I have been pruning it, hopefully, every year and finally we have apples.   BUT  they appear to be crab apples.  If I had known this was a crab apple tree I would not have planted a new baby crab apple tree next to it. This year I have a LOT of crab apples.  That means lots of jelly.

This afternoon we followed Chapel Beck up into the next field  now the farmer has moved his cows.  Very depressing sight of balsam all the way up the beck.  Extra.  Even worse was the fact the plants were all bushes because the cows have been nibbling the plants and Its made them branch. Each plant had multiple flower heads instead of one.  Anyway after 4.5 hours of work we've removed all the plants and taken the seed heads back for the rubbish bin. Next year we'll go in in June before the cows have done their worst  . Map pin is the beck.
