Fawn!

I know the press isn’t reporting on the protests in DC but I do want you to know that they are happening. 

LA’s protests were impressive, but we have some moves too. In one neighborhood people got together and surrounded and harassed the National Guard until they left. One woman played a song from Star Wars loudly on her cell phone at them.

I think most of the protesting is small and the news is only interested when it is on the order of No Kings Day.

I got to have another long walk. My feet! Even my legs! I got to walk and talk with another friend, I’m so glad I suggested it. 

This means I took the entire weekend off! Yay!

She and her husband have a townhouse with a tiny front yard that they have filled with native flowers. It looks beautiful and is filled with pollinators. I even got to see a Monarch butterfly. 

Canada announced their new military aid package to Ukraine. Air defense systems, armored vehicles, ammunition, drones, and electronic warfare equipment. This is how they are allocated the $2 billion in military assistance they promised at the G7 summit in June. They also announced an additional aid package of over $31 million to support humanitarian assistance and investments to counter digital attacks and threats to Ukrainian democracy. 

Ukraine liberated three Donetsk villages. 

The Russian military announced another prisoner swap. Ukraine hasn’t confirmed it but the wife of the former mayor of Kherson got a phone call from him saying he’s been freed. He was abducted by Russia 18 April 2022. For months no one knew where he was. In November 2022 the Red Cross confirmed the Russians had him. In May 2025 he refused to be part of a prisoner swap so a gravely ill POW could be released instead.
