A riverside walk

I thought I’d better make the most of what we are told will be the last day of summer. Mr C dropped me at Beggar’s Rigg car park where he was depositing at the bottle bank. I hope it’s not aptly named.

He thinks is ok to drive the sick car locally which was helpful as steep hills definitely aggravate the knee. It felt like a hammer had hit the kneecap this morning but that comes and goes so I took the river path to Katy’s house where we had a cup of tea before we walked back together as she had stuff to do in the village. It’s good to get the chance to catch up as she is very busy with WI, croquet and helping her mum who is still managing living in her own house. It was only 3 miles but quite enough in 24 degrees.

I got home to a surprise. Mr C had caved in and bought the Sam Dalrymple tome about the five partitions of India, a third of which is notes. As a sop to his conscience he bought me “Frankly” by Nicola Sturgeon. So I’m making the most of the warmth sitting in the garden reading it. I like her quote on the front “Do what you feel in your heart to be right - for you’ll be criticised anyway”. (Eleanor Roosevelt).
