All's well that ends well
I. and I took D. back to college on Sunday. Driving went fine and the move-in as smooth as it could be at the new spiffy dorm D is living in this year. He's sharing a quad with three other guys. We had dinner at the dining hall, said our goodbyes, and then I. and I took a quick mandatory walk around Tappan Square to admire the big shady trees on the brink of turning fall-ish.
Started back a little later than ideal and figured we'd get home around 1:30...but after a few hours we hit a backup on I-70, a couple miles behind a crash, and there we stayed. It was dark and cool, pleasant with the windows down. Surrounded by hundreds of other vehicles, all very quiet. You could even see the stars - we were in the big rolling hills of northern Maryland, near some parks I'd like to explore.. but of course it got less comfortable, and we finally got home at 5am. Agh!
