Glorious Hilliers Gardens

As forecast, there was a little rain this morning, but not enough to do much good.

We visited Hilliers Gardens near Romsey with our friends L&P and M&P. There, some  trees and shrubs, notably the Hydrangeas, were wilting badly, but the herbaceous Centenary Border was looking very good, as you can tell from my Blip. I think the staff must be watering that area. Meanwhile, the pond's water level was lower than usual but the planting in and around it was quite lush.
We noticed many insects busy nectaring; mostly bees, and even hornets, but very few butterflies.
We had  a very pleasant wander around the gardens, plus lunch, and catchup on news.
