Tuesday: Bar Stool
Well, today didn’t end quite the way we thought it would. But read on, it’s good news!
K was up at the Royal Marsden this afternoon for her pre-chemo bloods, with chemo being due tomorrow. I went into Richmond to run a few errands (and, yes, browsing in bookstores at length is totally an errand!) before meeting up with her.
Anyway, K returned with the news of no more chemo. Yes, that’s it - she’s done. She was supposed to have two more sessions but all her blood work has come back perfectly, with everything as it should be, so they’re content to stop. There will be a couple of scans but, as this is a blood cancer, and scans have so far been positive, this really seems to be it, with just monitoring ahead now.
There is one issue that has also fed into this decision. It looks like K may have some neurological damage due to the chemo, which is showing itself as weakness in her legs. The scenario on that is that it may improve, or not, so who knows? Given that everything else is fine, the decision was taken not to risk further nerve damage.
Naturally, we had to go the ‘Tap Tavern’ to absorb the news.
